January 20, 2012 - Karisma & Iberostar FAM Trip
This past weekend we escorted around a 100 of our travel agents and staff to Cancun, Mexico for a five day FAM trip to the Karisma and Ibersostar properties. I've got to say, we had a great time. Our host property was the new Iberostar Cancun (formerly the Cancun Hilton). We had a beach front suite that was just steps away from the turquios Caribbean waters.
We also got to visit a couple of the El Dorado Resorts in the Riveiera Maya. We especially loved the El Dorado Casitas and Maroma Beach. These were some of the most beautiful resorts we have ever visited. Our host, Daniel Scheiman really knew his stuff. He gave a great tour and showed several of the suites. Our favorite was the Swim Up Infinity Pool Casita Suites. This is teh only way to vacation in style. We would highly recommend this resort for someone looking to realy get away, relax, and be pampered in an lush tropical setting. December 8, 2011 - Sandals Grande Riviera Beach Villa & Golf Resort
This past weekend Patricia and I attended the 10th Annual Sandals STAR Awards at the Sandals Grande Riviera Beach Villa & Golf Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Sandals put us up in one of their villas on the "Manor" side. The room was beautiful as it was part of the property's $60 million dollar renovations. We were here before in 2008 and the resort needed a facelift. Now it ranks up their with our favorites. Our agency was recognized by Sandals as The Best of The Best. An award that goes to agencies with a minimum of 75 Sandals or Beaches bookings in a calendar year. We are shooting for Top Ten Agency by 2013!
I'd definitely recommend this resort. It's absolutely beautiful. The grounds feel like a botanical paradise. The property is divided into three section. On Friday night they through a beach party for us. They turned the beach into a Miami style nightclub. When we go again, we want to stay on the Riviera section. Less hills to walk and closer to the beach.
While here we toured Sandals Royal Plantation and Beaches Boscobel. Royal Planatation is just a short walk on the beach away. It's also a lovely resort. More of an exclusive upscale property. See my photos on Facebook.
May 19, 2011 - Grand Iberostar
This past May, Patricia and I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraíso in Riviera Maya, Mexico. We spend four days in this tropical pardise soaking up the sand and sun.
Our room was an ocean front junior suite on the third floor. This gave us amazing sunrises and spectacular views of the beach and Gulf of Mexico.
One of our favorite things to do was to relax in our own private cabana in the "quite" pool area. Besides a large pool to swim and float in, there was a hot tub and "cold" tub at either ends. The bar service was amazing and my margaritta was never empty!
The food was great and endless. We really enjoyed
the breakfast buffett in the La Brisa. We could get relief from the heat indoors or enjoy our meal in their outdoor patio right off the main pool.
On our second to last day we decided to leave the pool and head out to the beach. The beach had many thatch umbrellas with very comfortable lounge chairs. We relaxed in the sun all day listening to the waves. The beach was great and the water was pretty much free of rocks. It was windy and the surf was a little rough, but I like that. They have bar service, so we (I) order a couple of Coronas and some nachos. It rreally topped off the day!
We would highly recommend this resort and definitely plan on going back. It's about 20 minutes by taxi from Playa del Carmen. The city is the most popular tourist spot in the area, and is packed with bars, discos, stores and lots of charm.
January 19, 2011 - Disney Dream Inaugral Cruise
We've been on almost twenty cruises of the last few years. It's hard to believe that we didn't think about trying Disney. Our kids are grown and we don't have grandchildren - yet. Patricia and I received an invititaion from our Disney Rep, Rob Cook to attend the three day Inaugral Cruise on the new Dream.
Now I realize that this was a "insider cruise", but there still were quite a few kids onboard. It's a kid's cruise ship, we two adults had a blast. First, the ship is one of the most beautiful ships we have sailed on. Gorgeous!
On Day Two we pulled in to Disney's Private Island for a relaxing day on the beach. Again, this was done in Disney Style. The brought the immenities and service found on the ship to the Island Experience.
Last year we visited one of our favorite destinations three different times - that is Sandals, Whitehouse in Jamaica. Give us a call. We are happy to help you decide on the perfect destination based on what you like to do.
On the far right of the page, we have several real short videos of different destinations that we have visited over the last year or two. Feel free to check them out. We are always looking for the newest hot travel destinations.
